"So, here's how it goes: we team up because we have to and then we hurt everyone she cares about unless she comes with us willingly! Got it?" I ask Orion. The school was forcing me to team up with him since, apparently, I'm not getting enough work done on my own. Orion's such a hot head though! In looks and personality wise. Although, the needle - like hair is a little much. Orion has multiple personalities. He has his angel side and then his devil side, which is usually when I see him. Pointed teeth, horns, the whole deal.
"Who are we after again? And why's she important?" Orion asks, eating his apple.
"Christina." I say flatly, rolling my eyes. We've gone over this several times. "And...they won't tell me why she's so important." I say bitterly. I don't get it. All she is is a girl with wings- not that much different from her companions. What makes her so special?
Orion looks thoughtful for a second. Then suddenly says ,"You're jealous of her, aren't you? She has everything you don't.. a new family. Freedom to do as she pleases-"
"I'm not jealous of her and she cannot do everything she pleases!!! The school has control over her not matter what she may think! She's just their puppet." I cross my arms, leaning back in my chair. It's easy to get used to the smell here at the school, I don't get why the Winged used to whine about it so much.
"We're all their puppets, Rachel." Orion tells me quietly. "No matter what you may think."

Vision
They kept on going back and forth on what each others' rights were. For example: "You can't tell me what to do because I can call the police" Which stumped Jim for a few seconds. Then they went back and forth, back and forth. Max eventually left my side to go sorting again. I leaned against a wall and watched them all.
"You must really be a background person," someone whispers in my ear right next to me. I look to the right and there's no one there..
The voice goes to my left ear. "Over here.." The voice belonged to a boy, that was clear. Yet, once again I saw no one. Then I blinked and a new image appeared. There was the boy. He was staring at me with deep, crimson eyes. He was smirking, and he had needle like teeth. His hair also seemed sharp as his teeth, up in almost every direction. Torn bat wings stretched out behind him but there was a mirage of white, dove wings. Like he had two sets of wings. With the dove wings, he had halo. With the bat wings he had horns.
Then I saw him holding someone, a girl with blond hair. Kris.
He then proceeded to stab her in the back, through the heart. He let her fall to the ground and then closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. Then looked past me at someone. I turned around and saw someone I really didn't want to see. Rachel.
She wasn't smiling but I got the feeling she was happy. Since she was looking straight at me, walking straight for me. "She will die because of you. Do as we ask and none of your friends will be hurt."
I wake with a start, lying on something. It was a branch, I'm assuming, because I fell off of it. I landed on my back and got the air knocked out of me, but I could still look around and see where I was. Where we left Wendy, Carter and Simone. Only now everyone was here, including Kris. She was awake, as was Carter. "Kris- you're in danger-" I spit out when I have enough breath.
"What?" she says blankly. Then waits a second and it dawns on her. She must have read my mind. "Oh."

we meet again
Then all the sudden Jim jumps up, looking behind me. I look around and find Kris staring at us.
"Are you following me or something?!" She asks, putting her hands on he hips. She had changed into something other than the school's stuff. I know nothing of fashion but I'm guessing the clothes were stylish. She had shoes on, that's a plus. "I CAN get the police onto you, ya know?"
"NO...no. Please don't." Jim shakes his head, taking a deep breath. "We were just leaving. I suggest you tell no one you saw us." He picks up what he had collected, putting it all in a bag. Max did the same and I followed suit.
"You 'suggest'?" Kris asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes." Jim says flatly. I just watch them fight, standing next to Max.

Deep Thinking
Kris eventually left after some no-point-in-doing-it talk. The Winged split to go into town. Carter, Simone, and Wendy stay in the woods. Whereas Jim, Max and I go into town to go get some chow.
"Where's the place we're going to?" I ask, trailing behind Jim. Max was walking next to me and looking around. This place was pretty cool actually. The buildings were all older and the people looked really nice. I haven't seen any cameras, only around the shops.
"Right....there." Jim nods his head to a store. "The back," He explains a little more and Max and I nod.
First Jim goes around the corner, then Max and I. We find him looking through some boxes that had been thrown out. This was behind a gas station store so there probably should be some stuff. I also start looking and find some bottles of water. They had just been dented and these people threw them out.
"Oh my gosh, these are fine!" Max holds up a bag of pretzels. "This is just sad- it's only opened at the end."
Jim nods, still sorting through the stuff and pulling out things every so often.
I put the bottles down next to me and pull out more. This is, actually, really sad. These guys are throwing out things that aren't even bad. They're just a little damaged. They could still sell these or give them away. Yet, they throw them away. They think that it's not perfect, people won't want it..Well we want it, and if we want it, chance is that others would love to have this stuff also.

IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW
"But you didn't get to meet the rest of us," Simone says.
"I read minds, I don't exactly NEED to ask for your names." Kris crosses her arms and looks at us all.
There was a silence for a few seconds where no one talked or even moved. we were all just contemplating what she just said. About mind reading. I now actually understand why she saw me in the vision. She didn't see ME specifically, just my mind. That's also how she knew every move Jim made before he made it. She had been reading our minds. Well, this explains a lot.
"Wish you would've said earlier," I mutter, breaking the silence.

Kris' POV
So I just got away, correct. Then all the sudden these guys come and ATTACK me. Of course I'm not going to be friendly. Would you be friendly if random people with wings like you came up and attacked you? I guess it's a little hard to relate to but anyways.
There was that girl who I had sensed. I couldn't see her, but I could feel her mind. This was the same mind and she knew she had seen me.
All these kids were- well, to tell you the truth- crazy. They're calling the school a 'prison'. As far as I know, that's new. I've never heard of anyone calling it that before.
"So, if you're from this so called 'school'," One of them starts, the one with white wings. "Why're you out in the middle of the woods? You could fly off! You could go anywhere!" That one's Wendy.
"Well it's kind of hard to do that when a bunch of people attack you." I say flatly.
"....true." the guy who took my wings said. "But we just wanted to make sure you weren't of some kind of...group. Lately we've been seen a lot by people and we don't need to know about us. We're trying to stay secret." His name was Carter.
"Nice way of putting it, Carter," Jim says. He's the one in charge. "We just wanted to make sure you weren't with anyone. I'm Jim by the way."
"Great, so now that you know I'm not 'with' anyone- can I go now?"

So Confused, I really am
"Kris, eh?" Max asked in one of those weird pirate voices, sticking close to me. "Where you come from, matey?" Jim makes a 'seriously' face. Max shrugs, smiling a little.
"The school-" Kris starts, looking absolutely and utterly annoyed. She pushed her hair out of her face.
"The what?" We all ask at once. School is...what regular people go to. she's not a regular person...judging by the giant wings on her back. But you know, maybe I'm wrong and she's completely normal.
She sighs like this is the most obvious thing in the world. "Yes, the school. You know, the one's who experiment on kids?"
"Oh, the prison." Carter said, nodding. Kris raises an eyebrow but says nothing.

Kris
Once Wendy made her pass out using one of her powers (making people pass out by looking them in the eye), we finally got her to stop fighting. The others woke up in the process though and now we were all on the ground staring at her.
"Where'd she come from?" Max wondered aloud. Carter shrugged.
"I saw her." I mumble. "she was running from the prison. Then when I woke up, she was here." Simone held onto my arm, sighing. Jim looked wary.
"So she's not with them, is she?" He asked me. I shake my head, not that I know of. Although, I'm not a mind reader. So I could just as easily be wrong about her. Maybe she IS working for the prison. I wouldn't know.
She moans, coming around. We all get in that weird fighting stance, all except me. I'm sitting there dumbfounded. I thought it would take more time for her to wake up- she passed out for heaven's sake! Yet, she's waking up five minutes after passing out. It would take me a while. As far as I know...
"Agh!" She jumps up when she sees us all crowded around her, flapping her wings frantically. She can't get up because there's no room though. Max gets thrown back against Wendy and she nearly stumbles over. This girl has high wind levels with her wings...
"We're not here to hurt you-" Jim starts but gets knocked back. I duck to the ground quickly and put my hands over my head. There's debris and leaves flying everywhere. Pelting everyone. I scream because it hurts.
"Stop, please." Carter says calmly, somehow ending up behind her and gently taking her wings. then the girl stops, staring at Simone and around. Holding her breathe.
"I made her believe she's underwater!" Simone says proudly and Jim nods, coming up. He had gotten slammed into a tree. "Who're you?"
"Kris-" The girl says, looking a little flustered.

(One Of the Winged)
I sit up, blinking. That was her, she had been running through the trees- right toward us! I bet she's an escapee from the prison! We need to help her! I take out my wings, getting up, something from behind me pulls me back down by my waist. I look over my shoulder at Carter. "I had a vision about her, she's from the prison." I tell him urgently.
Jim and Wendy glide down after the girl, barely over head. She suddenly takes out a pair of brown and white appendages and they move out of the way before she flies up. Carter stiffens behind me and let's go, I take off into the sky immediately. She found a place to slip through the trees and I followed suit, flying after her in the wind. I could feel Wendy and Jim follow close behind and say Jim soar above all of us. The girl kept flying but wasn't very good, more like I had been when I started flying. She could barely stay above the tree line and was flapping her wings desperately, throwing glances over her shoulder.
"HEY!" Jim shouted at her, swooping down. She tried to duck out of the way but he crashed into her, sending them back into the trees. Wendy told me to follow her and I dove after her back down into the canopy.
Jim was trying to get her to stay still but this girl was having none of it, thrashing and seeming to know every move he was doing before he did it. Her blonde hair had many twigs and debris in it, like she had been rolling around in dirt. She had on prison 'uniform' as I say it; and it was ragged and dirty. Her bare feet were muddy. Her eyes were flashing everywhere but us as she tried to get away from Jim.

(One Of The Winged)
I saw a girl. She was running from someone, no, something. Then she flipped her head around, stopping momentarily. The stencils flooded into the area like water and she closed her eyes. Then all the sudden, they turned around and left. Just like that.
The girl opened her eyes tentatively, looking around. Then her eyes stopped on where I should have been. I thought I was invisible to whoever I was having a vision about but apparently that's not true. For, she could see me. Or hear me at least. She cocked her head, taking one last look at me before running off into the woods.

I woke up right after, hearing whispering. I turned my head ever so slightly, I still wanted them to think me asleep. Wendy was talking to Jim, about something unknown. They were saying things about how bad this is. How bad it is that people have pictures and video tapes of us. We could be put in a zoo, or worse, sent back to the prison. We would become experiments again... I shiver involuntarily.
"We'll be aliens to them- new specimen to look at-" Jim said, waving around a hand. Wendy nodded.
"We can't let that happen to the kids....we need to lay low for a few months...if that's possible." She muttered, folding in her wings. Jim shrugged.
"Probably not, have you seen how many people got snaps of us flying away? Right about now, I wish I could go back in time and fix all this..."
There was a rustling in the trees that made the two snap their heads toward the ground. A girl was running through the trees... I recognized her as the girl from my vision.

(One of the Winged)
It's probably not good we flew for hours on end. Simone almost fell down twice. I actually did fall over twice.
Jim kept making us go though, until we were all so tired, we couldn't even complain. He seemed really tired, but not because we'd been flying so long. More like, because of the situation we're in. People know who we are. They have pictures and no doubt we're all over the news. He wanted us all to stay low and then came the idea of the zoo. His idea of going to the zoo. Now, that I think about it, he probably feels to blame for the situation. It awfully seemed like that... He wouldn't talk to any of us. He just flew ahead, leading us to some other place where hopefully no one knew us.
The sun was now setting, casting shadows through the forests below. The land scape had changed. Now we were in woodlands, with tall pine trees and it was a little colder. Everything was green and alive. Carefree animals slid through the forest. I'm starting to think this was a reserve.
Then, Jim finally decided we were all miserable enough, so he landed. We all followed behind him, not even caring where we landed. So much as we land. He leads us all into the trees and everyone falls over on their limb. Simone falls asleep and Carter hops on her branch. Max huffs on his, glaring daggers at Jim. Wendy was whispering to Jim, which I ever will understand. I fall asleep too.
Then have another vision.

(One of the Winged)
The whiteness was getting closer, enveloping me in it's soft- almost feather like- embrace. Well. It figures that it was feathers. A hand wrapped around my arm and pulled me up the last of the way, hauling me onto the cement side of the ride. Water poured out of my mouth and nose, needing no encouragement. I gasped, sucking in gulps of air, staring up at Wendy. She had her downy, white wings stretched out behind her. She was soaking wet. She had...pulled me out of there. SHE SAVED ME FROM DROWNING!
I jump up, hugging her. She stumbles and we almost fall back in. Almost...
"Wendy!!!!" Jim called, running up to us. Red emergency lights were flashing and a siren had gone off in the short time I was underwater. He pulled us up by the backs of our shirts and shoved us toward a hole in the wall. We ran through, following behind the others. They had already made it in. Jim closes a door behind us and we all sprint down the corridor, red lights lighting our way.
Simone pushes a back door open and we all rush into the sunlight, immediately taking out our wings. Cautious, I know. We take off into the sky, more than enough people getting pictures. I could see people rushing out of the ride like ants, supervised by attendants. They were all very angry, children were crying. Some observant ones were even shouting and pointing at us. I swear, it was hard to see someone who DIDN'T notice us.
Jim took the lead, flying higher until we could barely be seen. But still, people were trying to get a good look. Someone had called the news and I could see with my raptor vision that they had a camera out and had filmed our departure.
Until a few days ago, no one knew about me. At all. I was a 'slave' basically, locked up for experimentation. Now, it was like everyone knew me. I was caught on camera; a bunch of people passed by me-by all of the Winged really. So now...it's more like the 'stay low' thing isn't working very well. We had managed to draw so much attention to ourselves in the past couple days. It was almost unbelievable. But if I could believe in idiots at the prison experimenting on little kids, I can imagine publicity coming naturally for a bunch of kids with wings.
The sad part though?
I think it's all because of me that everyone knows.

(One of the Winged)
The princess, it turned out, wasn't a princess at all. She took off her mask at one of the stations and suddenly it all fit. Dark, curly red hair, being short, all added up to- Rachel. All in the same moment, the boats stopped, the lights turned off, and a bunch of screaming filled the air. The seat belt wouldn't let me out and had actually seemed to tighten with my increased rate of breathing. Simone was screaming and I have the feeling I was about to also. This was kind of scary. I felt breathing along my neck and the gentle scrape of claws along my cheek. It was so dark that even with increased senses, I couldn't see whatever was in front of me. Which seriously freaked me out.
I felt something cut my seat belt off and someone flung me over their shoulder with a hairy hand. I scream, kicking at them. I could tell right away it was a stencil and I got the impression he wasn't here to invite me over for tea and crumpets. I scream louder, managing to knock my elbow into the back of their head. He grunts, jumps onto something else. I assumed it was another boat because the world was moving a lot. I kick him in the wrong place and he gasps, trying to hit me. But then that made him lose his balance and we crashed into the water with a splash.
I get the feeling, he can't swim. For he grabs onto me to keep a float. No offense, well actually yeah offense, he's a little heavier than your average person. So...we start sinking immediately. I kick my legs, trying to buck the guy off me. He just holds on tighter, making me want to let out my breath. I kick him in the shin, my feet starting to touch the bottom. He finally touches the bottom too and lets go, propelling himself upward and leaving me in a daze. How was I supposed to get up in time, my lungs were practically about to burst?! My muscles were tired and refused to move, my vision was getting blurry. I did the only thing I could do at the moment, the thing my brain was screaming at me to do. I took in a breath of WATER. I thrash, water rushing into my throat. Oh my god- I'm going drown!!! I kick frantically, pulling my arms up and making them do sloppy strokes. It's not working and I stop, five feet still to go till' I reach the air. I can't do it...
I start sinking again, the edges of my vision going black. Well... I had a good life for a week. Before that was the prison.
I swear, I saw a bright white light.

(One of the Winged)
So we headed to the zoo. All of us. It was okay, we bought tickets and entered like we were normal people. Or at least tried to. Carter kept looking around like one of the animals was suddenly going to turn into a Stencil or something. I didn't think so though, all the animals were so cute- what kind of sweet thing would turn into one of those monsters?! Not the little bunnies I'm staring at, that's for sure.
Jim was telling Wendy all about the species of peacock and she looked THRILLED. Max was watching the tiny animals with me. Simone was blabbering on and on and on.... nonstop talk. We had been walking all morning with no encounter with anyone who looked like they wanted to imprison us. But we all double checked when we looked at someone. It was fun, but a little bit tense- if you know what I mean. Everyone was on edge and ready to jump into action whenever necessary. Even I was a little careful around these guys. You couldn't be sure if anyone of them was a stencil in disguise. Max told me they can look and appear to be a human. Great, just what we need.
"So, you must really like small animals," Max commented beside me, knitting his eyebrows together. I shrug, sitting up. I was kneeling and watching the animals now.
"I guess but I feel a little bad..." I mutter, looking at them. I answer his question before he asks it. "I feel bad because we're free....and they're not." Max looks a little thoughtful. I push my hair out of my face, getting up. There was a few illegal ways they could come out but I doubt we needed more trouble, especially with the law. I never want to get arrested and don't plan to now.
"Well, not everything can be free. Sometimes it's best they be in custody or else they could get hurt." Max says quietly and I sigh. I still know how great it is for me to be free... I bet it would be great for them too. But he is right about that. It could be worse for them. They don't know how to survive out in the wild. If I hadn't found the Winged... I wouldn't be able to survive either.

"Come on, it'll be fun!" Carter tried to convince me. They wanted me to try out a water ride. I never wanted to go on one and I'm not starting now. I can't imagine how getting wet could be...fun. You got on nice and fine and come out soaking wet and cold. Not to mention how our wings would feel. They'd probably weigh ten times more than they did before.
Wendy put an arm around my shoulder, "There's a story line to it." I look up at her. "They tell you the story as you go. It's supposed to be about a selfish princess." Hm... Well, I do love stories. I think she knew she had hooked me because before I could say another word, she pulled us all into the ride. The boats were cheap plastic things and very small. Carter, Jim, and Wendy sat in the one behind Max, Simone and I. I pulled on my seat belt that was required in the tiny boat. I think the boat was supposed to be an Indian boat; it had a weird bowed shape and was painted a yellow that I suspected was supposed to be the color of different grasses weaved together. Really, it just looked like a giant banana- if you wanted to truth. But the dark, fire illuminated walls were showing pictures and drawings of Native Americans fighting, worshipping, and hunting.
As the boat lurched forward, I gripped the safety bar. I looked over to see Simone doing the same but Max looked as if he did this everyday. As we were enveloped in darkness, a voice echoed in the whisper filled air.
"There was once a powerful family on the island.
They had a king,
a queen,
and one of the most beautiful princesses."
A light illuminated the area in front and we all gazed upon a redheaded girl with a mask on. She was sitting in a room and braiding her hair. She was dressed in fancy beaded clothes and I suspected she was the princess. The boat twisted and sprayed everyone with glittery water.
"It was the princess' birthday tomorrow.
Her father asked her what she should like for her birthday.
She answered-"
Then a sweet voice filled the ride. "All the birds on the island." It seemed to be raining from the ceiling as the sound of flapping wings filled the air.
"The father wanted to please his daughter.
He knew he could not capture all the birds without help,
so he sent out people to do it for him."
A light illuminated a stage where there were knights putting birds in cages and taking them to the masked princess, who sat upon a mountain and watched all this play out. She actually looked pretty tiny.
"The princess got her wish and had all the birds on the island.
But she was not satisfied.
She wanted more than just the birds."
What I saw next scared the cranberries out of me.

(One of the Winged) Waking up
I don't even remember going up to the room. I just woke up in a bed I knew wasn't mine and in the dark. So, I might be a little freaked out, right? I don't know where I am-it's dark- Stencils and Rachel...... I have a lot to be worried about. So, you might imagine that when I woke up, I screamed. Real loud.
"Christy?! What?!" Someone beside me shook me and before I tried to punch them, I noticed it was Wendy. I stopped screaming. But I had a sneaking suspicion I has woken everyone for the next block up. Great.....just what we need. Angry people, stencils, Rachel, police, and the rest of the Idiots. This just gets better and better. I can't help noticing how large the list of enemies has gotten for me in.....three days. Wow, and I'm sure there are more I don't know about.
I sat up, wincing. I had roused the cut on my side where the stencil had gotten a lucky hit. "Sorry...."
Jim sighed and a light was turned on, making all of us wince. "It's okay.....why'd you scream?"
"I was in an unfamilar room and it was dark and I value my life....." I rush out. Carter burst out laughing, having to have Max clamp a hand over his mouth before he woke up any more people. Max shushed him and Carter pried his fingers off.
Simone spoke up next, sounding tired. "Well, your safe, we're not going to let anyone take you. Ever...." She fell back asleep right after. I looked down at my hands, not at anyone or anything. Wendy put an arm around my shoulders and I was surprised I didn't flinch back because of the warmth. She spoke quietly, leaning her head on my shoulder. "Your one of us now. A family. We don't let them mess with our family anymore." I can't help but notice she said, 'anymore', but I keep quiet. I hug her, surprising even myself.
"Thank you....." I mumble, my throat closing up as I fight back tears. She pulled back, looking at me.
"Always." She got up, stretching. "It's morning Simone." She shakes her, tickling her stomach. Simone giggles and sits up, rubbing at her eyes. Carter kneels down on the floor, yawning. Max gets up and goes to the bathroom. Jim sits on the couch. Wendy turns on the TV, flipping the channel to the News. And what do I do? I sit down and watch the TV because it was huge and, really, never had much experience with TV's. Since I lived THERE all my life.
I must have looked pretty awestruck because Jim comes to sit by me, startling me enough that I fall off the side of the bed, landing on my butt. He helps me back up. "You okay?" I nod, running a hand through my hair. "Never seen a TV like this before, am I right?" He asks, pointing to the TV. I nod again, sitting down.
"Where are we going today?" I ask, because I'm assuming we weren't going to lounge in the hotel room all day. But, just assuming here. I could be wrong.
"I was thinking..... well, there's this place I wanted to go to......"
"Where?" Wendy asked, sitting beside us. Anymore people and we'd be like a sand-which.
Jim answered quickly. "The zoo." The zoo??? Why the zoo? Maybe he'd never been to one. Maybe he thought it was a nice day and just wanted to go. Maybe he wanted to see new animals he's never seen..... there were a lot of possible answers. Might just want to hear his....
"I wanted to see the zoo this time of year." He said, making me have to start thinking. Oh, it's Spring. "I hear there are a lot of new animals." He keeps going, practically bubbling over with excitement. Wendy nods,"To the zoo it is."

Jake (in the beginning)
Scarlet
I froze, staring at the boy. He had dark
hair, eyes like coal. But even more important were the black, slender
appendages coming out from his back. He had wings, just like me...
“Hey, hey, hey! They’re over here!”
Called one of the EDs. He came around the corner and about ten more followed-
armed with guns. Now, when ten dudes run over to you with guns, you might just
want to run in the opposite direction. Just maybe. I’m not saying the people
who wouldn’t run are evil or something- just that I personally wanted to run.
But where was there to run, we were cornered! I was going to fly off but never
got the chance. Because suddenly a large figure landed in front of me. He was
facing away, with wings stretching up behind him. His wingspan was roughly
thirteen and a half feet across!
Then suddenly all the EDs in the area
started screaming in pain, gripping their heads. Most made a run for the gates
of the junk yard. The rest hid underground, in the sewers-until there were no
more EDs in sight. They had fled…… because of the guy kneeling in front of me.
“Who…..are you?”
Suddenly someone ran around the corner,
and screeched to a halt like one of those cartoon characters. She stopped and
stared. Then two identical people also ran around the corner. Bright red hair
and eyes, freckles. That was about all I could see, and then the fact that they
were pretty short, because they ran into the dark haired boy. They fell back
and then looked up at him. “Wow, who are you?” they said simultaneously. It
sounded like two recording systems playing at the same time. It was freaky to
tell you the least.
“Who are you guys?” Asked the blond girl
who had run around the corner.
“Time for introductions later- for now,
we have to get out of here.” Said the boy in front of me, standing up. I walked
backwards, about to try to fly off again. “Unless you want them to catch you, I
wouldn’t do that,” The guy turned around and his looks alone were enough to
stop me in my tracks. Now, I don’t usually stop and stare at boys, especially
since I have no time to. But this guy…… gee, it was like an angel fell. “Who…..are
you?” I ask hesitantly.
He sighed. “Jake. Just call me Jake. I
know who those guys were- and they were trying to get you guys-“ Jake started
but the dark haired boy interrupted him. He stepped forward too and…..I had to
admit, he had looks too. “We already know that they want us- what I want to
know is why you care.”
Jake ran a hand anxiously through his
hair, looking around. “Well…..let’s just say I have a long past with them.” He
sounded reluctant, unsure even.
“So do we all,” Pointed out one of the
ginger headed twins. We all nodded, he had a point. Weren’t we all mutations
because of these jerks?
“Look, can I just explain when we get out
of here?” Jake said hurriedly and we heard the sound of metal against metal.
Jake looked worried, glancing around again.
“Say we go with you- what would happen?
Where would we go? How would we get there?” I asked and everyone stared at me
like I was crazy. No doubt thinking ‘was she really going to just go along with
this stranger?’ Well, maybe people. That was my answer. Getting away from EDs
seemed like a pretty good idea to me.
“We’d just travel around a lot. Watch
each other’s backs. We’ll fly to our first destination.” Jake explained as
another sound rang through the night. A yell. Then another yell. Pounding feet
and a screech from the gate.
“Okay, we’ll go! But how are we going to
get in the air?! Some of us don’t have wings.” Rushed in the blond girl,
walking closer to our little group. It figures that Jake had an answer for
that. Did he just plan all this out? He seemed to know what to say every time….
“You’ll grab the twins-“ He pointed to
me. “Dark boy and I grab the blond girl. Let’s go!” We all got into action.
The boys rushed over to me and I only twitched when they wrapped their arms
around me. I did the same, pumping my wings. We lifted up quickly, as if I didn’t
have two teenage boys hanging on to me for dear life. I followed after Jake,
feeling a dart fly past my ear. Close one. We all flew higher, where darts
couldn’t hit.
“Okay, from here on out, we head East.”
Jake called back to me and I changed track also.
In the Beginning (continued)
Marco
They didn’t have minds anymore. Their
thoughts were a jumbled mess of orders from the “big guy” that was in charge. Every
time I focused in on one thought, it slipped away into the chaos of their mind.
I heard bullets bouncing off metal and
looked at what was happening. They were shooting at a cement tube. Okay, I
thought they were stupid before but now-wait. I focused in on the tube. There
was something behind it.
We need to get out of here!, one voice yelled.
Duh!, said the
same sounding voice. I knit my eyebrows together. It was talking to its self
but…… It felt like there were two people behind there.
Yes! I read a
mind behind me and flipped around. There was a girl standing there. But she wasn’t
like normal girls. She had wings. Pure white appendages that seemed to glow in
the moon’s light. I had wings like that also, only black. She turned around,
catching sight of me and gaping. I gaped back.
“Hey,
hey, hey! They’re over here!” called one of the EDs, coming around the corner
right next to me with a gun

Another
one? , I asked my brother, but not in the normal way, like other kids. No,
I got inside his head and spoke it. Yeah, we must seem like serious freaks to
you right now. Being able to talk inside each other’s heads isn’t normal, I
know. But, just give us a chance. You’re about to meet some even freakier guys.
Yeah,
and they look pretty mad, John thought back,
looking over the side of the cement tube. We were in a junk yard; there were tons
of things to hide behind. Also tons of things for bullets to bounce off of.
I pulled John down, not wanting some Idiot to shoot his head straight off his
shoulders. They want us alive, George, John thought. I rolled my eyes. It was
true, if they wanted us dead- we would be by now.
Scarlet
Every day, these guys try to get me.
Try to find me. Try to take me. Notice what I said? Try, that’s what I
said. They try but never succeed. I wasn’t so sure about today though.
Something was…. Different. They weren’t trying to kill me, as always. But I had
a feeling they were….. Herding me somewhere. They were behind me, shooting
bullets where my feet came up. But they weren’t surrounding me, which they
could easily do on the ground. We just passed one of the stores I had been in
earlier. Up ahead though loomed the gates. The gates of the city junk yard.
Perfect.
I pull out my wings, jumping into the
air and flying over the gate. That was my mistake.
Jessica
“Please tell me that’s not who I think
it is….” I mutter to the guy sitting next to me. He looked up from his
newspaper, looking grumpy. “What.” He said indifferently. I shook my head at
him, getting up and walking out of the automatic doors. Yeah, it was them all
right. Coming straight for this coffee shop. They were dressed as police
officers, long hats covering their faces. But I knew what they were. That is,
not good citizens of this city. Like me, a good person. I wasn’t a citizen, but
I was nice. Not all evil like these dudes. None of them were girls and that
really annoys me. What- were girls not good enough villans?
I started down the street, making
occasional glances over my shoulder. They weren’t running towards me, some even
going into the shop. Some followed me to the side of the building though, down
an ally. That’s when I made a run for it. I was fast, way too fast for them. I
bolted down the ally in four seconds flat and turned a corner. I jumped over
some ED’s who thought they were smart to go through the back of the building.
They obviously thought I was stupid!
I hopped onto the top of a building,
blowing past them. I leaped over a fence. I’ll get away, they can’t jump over
the fence to a junk yard.

In
the beginning there was a star. Or so it is told. And that star burst, and in its
path creating a Galaxy. In that Galaxy was a star that burned constantly.
Around that star were planets. New, rough planets. No life, no nothing. Earth
was dead. So were the rest of them.
~Flashing forward a few years or so~
Earth
is inhabited by new creatures. Humans, animals. And water and trees, life. What
had been a barren planet that could support no life- now that planet was
covered in life. But with life, comes death. With light, comes the dark. With a
day comes a night. With a beginning comes an ending. And that ending is close.
So close that it could happen in my generation. Maybe yours. But, it’s
happening soon, not later in another few hundred years. We’ve had our impact on
the earth and it’s showing now. But, not many people are willing to help it.
They just want it to skip them. Hoping it’s in another time, when they aren’t
there to have to deal with it. Well, that wasn’t going to happen.
This
can happen two ways in my mind.
1. We can all die a painful death.
2. We can live happily ever after.
I personally
like the second one, but that’s just me. I don’t know if any of you guys want
to die a painful death in the near future. But, I don’t, so I’ll explain my
opinion. There are some guys called the ED’s. Evil Dudes. They are indeed evil.
Their boss wants to take over the world. Starting with this generation. Whoever
this guy is- he’s got a group. An army actually, who are out there right now
kid napping kids and mutating them for absolutely no reason. Well, he says his
reason is to help them prepare for the future. Yeah- no! He’s doing it because
he’s a jerk with no life whatsoever. Well, my friends and I are here to tell
him that just because he’s a heartless jerk, he can’t go around taking innocent
people and experiment on them. It’s a law….. I’m pretty sure it is. Hear that?
He’s a violator of the law! So. Like our cause now? I hope you do, because
you’re stuck with us. Unless of course, you can’t stand guys like me and want
to go abandon the world. Because your too busy playing with your Nintendo. Or
you’re MP3. Doing whatever you think is more important than the world. For
those of you, who do care, read on. It’s about to get a lot more interesting…..
